MY JOURNEY WITH REIKI BEGAN…

When I was 11 years old. I was deeply depressed for two years, to a point and level I could wish on no-one, with cycles or fear and the fear of the fear. Reiki pulled me through. I found my definition of happiness, which is simply, to be able to look forward to the next day.

When in later years I found I could be attuned to give Reiki by a Master Practitioner, I realised that I had overcome the suffering from my past for good reason – to help people overcome their obstacles. To be able to look forward to new days without fear.

WHAT DOES REIKI MEAN?…

The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word “Rei” meaning “Universal Life” and “Ki” which means “Energy”. Reiki is commonly translated as “Universal Life Energy”, but the characters can be translated as meaning “soul energy”, “mysterious spirit”, or even “spiritually guided life force energy”; depending on how the Japanese is translated. Reiki is a spiritual healing art with roots in Japanese origin.

Reiki is the life energy that flows through all living things. Ideally a person’s “ki” or energy should be strong and free-flowing, so a person is physically, mentally, and emotionally balanced and their body and mind are in a positive state of health. When our energy becomes weak or is blocked it can lead to imbalances mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

The Reiki Practitioner gives or channels energy healing by means of light touch. Hands are lightly placed on or over the chakra centres. The “life force energy” flows through the hands to replenish, activating and strengthening depleted chakras and the body’s natural healing processes; helping to restore mental, physical, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Enabling the body to relax, restore and rebalance itself.

Reiki energy knows where it is needed and will flow to that area. Although the practitioner may very well feel intuitively where more Reiki is needed; the energy will always go to where it is most needed. Energy blocks are cleared which allows natural healing mechanisms to work.

Reiki is not attached to any particular religion, is for everyone, of every age. Children and animals receive Reiki well.

After a Reiki treatment you may feel very sleepy. Reiki can bring a great sense of peace and tranquility. I have had treatment where I suddenly felt extremely energised; like a weight had been lifted from my shoulders and I was free again to do what I loved – free and happy like we should feel more often!

When we are replenished with Reiki we will gain strength where we have been off-balance; and everything can seem much easier.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING A REIKI TREATMENT…

The intention of the client can be decided and shared, if there is a particular area where they may be asking for help.

The Reiki session begins by the practitioner who asks the Ascended Masters, Guardians, Healers, Teachers and Guides for their help letting the Reiki flow to be of most benefit for the client and for everyone around them. Hands are placed lightly on or above the chakra points along the spine. This can be seated, but generally on a treatment couch with blankets.

Scanning the chakras can let me feel for imbalances. The Reiki energy will go where it needs to go so that the universal energy can flow abundantly again throughout the body.

Receiving Reiki healing is often a deeply relaxing and peaceful experience – leaving you feeling balanced and rejuvenated. Reiki energy encourages one to let go of all stress, tension, anxiety, fear and negative emotions to reach a state of health, peace and well-being.

During Reiki healing you may feel heat, warmth, cold, heaviness, tingling, numbness, euphoria or sometimes no overt sensations at all.

Heat is often felt coming from the practitioners hands. The experience is always different, depending on what you needs at the time. You may feel a sudden urge for a gasp of breathe when a chakra centre is restored.

You may feel meditative and your mind may be peaceful and quiet during a treatment; or thoughts may come and go. I tend to think that we may have more useful thoughts during a treatment. During my last Reiki share, my main though was that we can have anything that we want; all we have to do is to invite it in. A fellow practitioner intuited that I was blocked over my solar plexus and sacral chakra area, with some sadness, which was impacting my higher heart – whereas my head area was blissfully tranquil. Her suggestion was for me to use music to find comfort and balance where I needed it.

I’ve had practitioners give me healing and they may intuit lovely scenarios about me in the future. So it’s a good time to listen to your thoughts and useful to share them with the Reiki practitioner as the thoughts may be coming up as you need to release or share them. Your thoughts can become your reality afterall.

MORE ABOUT MY REIKI ATTUNEMENTS…

During my first attunement with The Sacred Self Shaylini I experienced, with eyes closed, beautiful rich purple “blotch” pulsating and getting bigger and smaller. Since then, whenever I’m in a hypnotic trance for beneficial purposes, this same pulsating colour may appear; sometimes it’s indigo. I love to see it expand and morph before my closed eyes. It means good work is being done.

My second attunement happened over two days. After the first day I had a vivid nightmare, about seeing people in dreadful pain, suffering and wounded. I was protected by being in a coach and none of this suffering could get to me. Naturally I feel grateful for this. The next day during the attunement the words peace, forgiveness, acceptance came very strongly into my mind. It was very moving. During the group healing where we offered healing to our inner child, I found that more than anything my inner child wanted to be appreciated.
